Terms of Service

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These terms govern your use of DataDriver — an extension for Adobe After Effects for creating data-driven designs, together with an optional web companion (the “Service”). By installing the extension or signing in, you agree to these terms. Questions? Email chris@istoica.com.

Early access

DataDriver is in early access: anyone can download the panels, and a person approves each account by hand. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”: features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time, and we make no guarantees about uptime or fitness for a particular purpose. Please keep backups of your projects and data.

Accounts and access

You sign in with Google in the panel, and a person approves each account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or revoke access at our discretion during early access — for example for misuse, security concerns, or the end of a testing period. You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account data (see the Privacy Policy).

Your content

Your designs, project files, spreadsheets, and other content remain yours. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service — for example reading a Google Sheet you connect in order to populate your template. We claim no ownership of what you create with DataDriver, and renders you produce are yours to use.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to breach, probe, or circumvent the Service’s security or access controls.
  • Do not redistribute, resell, or share your account or the extension installer without our permission.
  • Do not use the Service to process content you have no right to use, or for any unlawful purpose.

Software license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the DataDriver extension for your design work during the early-access period. The software and Service, excluding your content, are and remain the property of DataDriver.

Third-party services

The Service interoperates with third-party products you bring — such as Adobe After Effects and Google services (sign-in, Sheets, Drive). Your use of those products is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero during free early access).

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version on this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
